Grits

Grits can last for up to six months when stored in a pantry or cupboard, as long as they are kept in an airtight container. Grits are made from dried corn that has been ground into a coarse meal.
Similar to other grains like rice and pasta, they have a low moisture content which makes them resistant to spoiling. The absence of moisture also prevents the growth of bacteria and mold. Therefore, there is no need to take up valuable fridge space for storing your beloved grits.
