Molasses

Molasses is a natural sweetener derived from sugar cane or sugar beets and has a long shelf life even when stored at room temperature. The high sugar content in molasses acts as a natural preservative, inhibiting the growth of bacteria or mold.
Refrigerating molasses can actually have negative consequences. The cold temperature causes the molasses to thicken and harden, making it difficult to pour or use in recipes. Additionally, condensation can form inside the container when it is taken out of the fridge, causing moisture buildup which can promote mold growth.
