Ultra-High-Temperature (UHT) Milk

UHT milk, also known as long-life or shelf-stable milk, is a fascinating innovation in the dairy industry. Unlike regular pasteurized milk, UHT milk does not require refrigeration until it is opened. This is because during the UHT process, the milk is heated to around 280°F (138°C) for just a few seconds, effectively killing all bacteria and microorganisms present in the liquid.

UHT milk is typically packaged under sterile conditions in special cartons or bottles that prevent any external contamination from reaching the contents. As long as these packages remain sealed and undamaged, they protect against bacteria and other harmful organisms.
