Spotify wasn’t that popular when it first began, as music streaming services were not being used on a large scale. It wasn’t until 2010 that Spotify started seeing an increase in users. Now, the company is worth millions and has become one of the leading platforms for streaming music.

Tencent Holdings and Spotify decided to sign a partnership as Spotify needed a way to enter the Chinese market. Tencent was more than happy to buy a portion of Spotify as it is the world’s largest music streaming platform.
