Los Angeles California is one of the most popular cities in the entire world. Known as the place where people go to become stars, Los Angeles has a reputation for being glamorous and lavish. While a star studded atmosphere is certainly a big draw for most people, it also comes with a pretty big price. It’s no secret that living in Los Angeles California is expensive and flat out unaffordable in the eyes of many. However, just like any other city, there are areas of Los Angeles that are more affordable than others. If you know where to look, you might be able to save yourself some money. Here are 5 affordable neighborhoods in Los Angeles California.

Valley Village

Valley Village is an area of Los Angeles that is made up of just over 2 square miles of land located to the west of North Hollywood. If you’re looking for a place to live that is both affordable and diverse, Valley Village is definitely worth checking out. The average price for a two bedroom apartment (per person) is $1,225. Although to most people that price is still ridiculous, compared to other parts of Los Angeles, it’s not too bad.

North Hills

North Hills is one of the most affordable areas in all of Los Angeles, but that’s likely because it’s far from the center of the city and it can be very hot. If you’re able to deal with both of those things, you might want to give this neighborhood a try.

Tarzana

Okay, Tarzana might not have the coolest name, but don’t let that stop you from giving this section of Los Angeles California a chance. The weather in Tarzana can get pretty brutal, but if you have no problem living in the heat, you’ll be happy with the money you can save. According to LA Weekly, the average price of a one bedroom is Tarzana is $1,500.

San Pedro

Who wouldn’t want to live in a decent area without having to go completely broke? Well, San Pedro might just be the place to do it. According to LA Weekly, San Pedro is “one of the few water-adjacent communities in Southern California that hasn’t seen housing prices explode.” The average price for a one bedroom is $1,270.

South Los Angeles

South Los Angeles is known for being a fairly affordable area for both renters and buyers. So finding a good deal in this area isn’t something you’ll have to look too hard to do. In fact, it’s even possible to find a one bedroom apartment in South Los Angeles for just $1,100.
