Atlanta may be in the south, but it certainly doesn’t fit into all of the southern stereotypes that may be floating around in your head. Sure, the city may be full of charm, but it’s also got many of the things you’ve probably come to expect from city life including plenty of bars and great restaurants. Low cost of living

Pile of pennies

Most cities are known for being ridiculously expensive. Places like New York and San Francisco have set a trend for being a little on the unaffordable side, and because of this, some people see city life as intimidating. However, compared to many other major cities in the United States, Atlanta is very affordable, especially when it comes to purchasing or building a home. This low cost of living is especially attractive to young professionals who are looking to strike out on their own.

Diversity isn’t something that comes to mind when most people think about the south. However, this is yet another area where Atlanta shatters stereotypes. Over the years the city has become very diverse, and things are only getting better. Aside from racial diversity, Atlanta is also well-known for having a large gay population, and there are several gay friendly locations all throughout the city. No matter what kind of person you are or what you’re interested in, you’ll definitely be able to find a niche somewhere in Atlanta, and this is something that is always important to people who are exploring a new place for the first time.
