In recent years, Atlanta GA has become a very popular place for people looking to relocate. Although the city was once overlooked in favorite of other southern cities, things have certainly changed. Even people from the northern part of the country have found themselves migrating south just to call Atlanta home, and for many the decision has been a good one. After all, who wouldn’t like to live in a place that has a lot going for itself and continues to grow every day? Well, if you’ve been wondering what other reasons people could have for wanting to make the move, or if you’re simply looking for a new place to plant your roots, you’re luck. Here are five great reasons to move to Atlanta GA.

The best of both worlds

Atlanta may be in the south, but it certainly doesn’t fit into all of the southern stereotypes that may be floating around in your head. Sure, the city may be full of charm, but it’s also got many of the things you’ve probably come to expect from city life including plenty of bars and great restaurants. However, if you’re moving from the north, you may want to keep in mind that you probably won’t want to ditch your car if you ever decide to move to Atlanta.

Low cost of living

Most cities are known for being ridiculously expensive. Places like New York and San Francisco have set a trend for being a little on the unaffordable side, and because of this, some people see city life as intimidating. However, compared to many other major cities in the United States, Atlanta is very affordable, especially when it comes to purchasing or building a home. This low cost of living is especially attractive to young professionals who are looking to strike out on their own.

Cheap flights

If you move to Atlanta, there’s a good chance you’ll want to take a trip back home every once in a while. Well, the good news is that flights to and from Atlanta are usually relatively cheap. With the city’s airport being the busiest in the country, you’ll never have a hard time finding a flight and if you ever want to go on vacation you might be able to save a little money.

Great food

Sure, most cities have some pretty cool options when it comes to food, but Atlanta certainly has something special. Like many other places in the south, Atlanta GA is home to countless delicious restaurant. From soul food to international cuisine, the city is known for having a lot of the offer. Over the years, many celebrities have even opened restaurants all throughout the city, and some of them, including T.I.’s Scales 925 which has become one of Atlanta’s most popular restaurants. To put it simply, if you’re planning on moving to or visiting Atlanta, it’s probably a good idea to bring your appetite with you.

Diversity

Diversity isn’t something that comes to mind when most people think about the south. However, this is yet another area where Atlanta shatters stereotypes. Over the years the city has become very diverse, and things are only getting better. Aside from racial diversity, Atlanta is also well-known for having a large gay population, and there are several gay friendly locations all throughout the city. No matter what kind of person you are or what you’re interested in, you’ll definitely be able to find a niche somewhere in Atlanta, and this is something that is always important to people who are exploring a new place for the first time.
