Visit the Turtle Back Zoo

Opened in 1963, the Turtle Back Zoo is part of the oldest park system (Essex County) in the country. Each year, more than 500,000 people visit this awesome zoo, and it’s easy to see why. Boasting 20 acres of land, the zoo is home to nearly 1,000 animals including bears, fly foxes, and black dragon lizards. Aside from a traditional zoo, the location is also home to a carousel which opened in 2008, and a safari style mini golf course.

Go hiking at Eagle Rock Reservation

If you’re looking for a little adventure, and enjoy hiking, the Eagle Rock Reservation is a great place to visit and explore. The reservation consists of more than 400 acres of land, and there are several trails and streams. Even if hiking isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy taking in the credible sites, and you may even get a chance to spot some wildlife. The reservation is also home to a September 11th memorial with the names of all who perished in the attacks inscribed in stone.
