Homer Simpson, the lovable oaf and patriarch of the Simpson family, has been making us laugh for decades with his antics, catchphrases, and general absurdity. From his “D’oh!” moments to his ridiculous schemes, Homer’s humor is a key part of The Simpsons’ enduring appeal. Here are 15 times Homer Simpson made us laugh on The Simpsons.

Cable Catastrophe

Remember the episode where itchy reception throws the Simpson household into disarray? Homer decided to bypass the cable company altogether, fashioning a makeshift antenna out of coat hangers and tinfoil. The image of Homer perched precariously on the roof, desperately trying to snag a decent signal, is pure comedic gold.

Stupid Sexy Flanders

FOX/TVDBSTUDIO

In a classic display of neighborly competition, Homer witnesses Ned Flanders washing his car. Flanders, clad in a revealing leotard that accentuates everything Homer secretly envies, throws shade (and questionable dance moves) at Homer. The ensuing spluttering, nonsensical rant of “Stupid Sexy Flanders!” perfectly encapsulates Homer’s immaturity and jealousy.

The Great Crayon Caper

FOX/TVDBSTUDIO

In this episode, young Bart decides to prank his father by shoving a crayon up his nose. What follows are spurts of mishaps as Homer, oblivious to the foreign object lodged in his nasal cavity, stumbles through the day. The scene culminates with Homer accidentally launching himself through the hospital ventilation system, all the while sporting a bright red crayon protruding from his nostril.

Tomacco Triumph (and Disaster)

FOX/TVDBSTUDIO

Who knew mutated tomatoes could be so funny? When Homer’s prized tomato plant starts producing strangely shaped fruit, his first thought is, of course, to capitalize on it. He invents Tomacco, a potent blend of tobacco and tomato that boasts a flavor that’s “like smoking a pack of cigarettes while eating a salad.”

Mr. Plow Under the Weather

FOX/TVDBSTUDIO

Springfield gets slammed with a snowstorm! Seeing an opportunity to cash in, Homer launches Mr. Plow, a snow removal business built on ridiculously catchy (but cringe-worthy) jingles. But Homer’s tactics are even more questionable than his singing because he steals clients, sabotages competitors, and gets stuck in a snow removal vortex of his own making!

The Birth of “Doh!”

FOX/TVDBSTUDIO

This universal expression of frustration (and stupidity) needs no explanation. However, the origin story deserves its own spotlight. This incident has Homer attempting to follow a simple instruction manual to build a bookshelf. Predictably, things go hysterically wrong. One misplaced screw and a snapped support beam later, Homer lets out a strangled cry of “D’oh!”

The Duff Delusion

FOX/TVDBSTUDIO

Duff may not be the healthiest beverage, but it sure leads to rib-cracking situations. So Homer celebrates a little too hard with his favorite beer on this occasion, and what is the result? A full-blown hallucination featuring Duffman, the official mascot of Duff Beer, coming to life and attempting to kill him.

The Color Me Confused Test

FOX/TVDBSTUDIO

During a visit to the power plant, Homer is subjected to a battery of tests to assess his cognitive abilities. One particular question asks him to identify the square with a different colored dot. With unwavering confidence, Homer points to every single square except the correct one.

The Frying Pan Phantasm

FOX/TVDBSTUDIO

Bored and restless at home, Homer grabs a frying pan and starts whacking everything in sight. Inspired by his newfound domestic violence (don’t worry, it’s all for comedic effect!). Homer composes a song titled “Itchy & Scratchy,” a nonsensical ode to the frying pan’s supposed crime-fighting capabilities.

The “Lisa Needs Braces” Ballad

FOX/TVDBSTUDIO

Faced with the hefty bill for Lisa’s braces, Homer scrambles to raise the money. His solution? A telethon-style fundraiser hosted entirely within the Simpsons’ living room. Enter the “Lisa Needs Braces” song, a heartfelt (and slightly off-key) ballad about the importance of dental hygiene, sung by a desperate Homer.

Escalator Escapades

FOX/TVDBSTUDIO

While visiting a fancy mall, Homer decides to defy the very purpose of an escalator. Instead of standing patiently, he marches up the down escalator, causing chaos and near-collisions. The scene perfectly captures Homer’s childish need to break the rules, even the most basic ones, and the sheer bewilderment on the faces of his fellow mall-goers adds to the hilarity.

The Flanders Fiasco

FOX/TVDBSTUDIO

In a moment of carelessness, Homer accidentally bumps into Flanders’ pristine car. To avoid taking responsibility, Homer hatches a plan – a series of increasingly offensive bumper stickers plastered across the car’s back window. Each sticker is a jab at Flanders’ overly righteous personality, climaxing in an inappropriate message that leaves Flanders speechless (and Homer secretly pleased).

The Doh-nut Debacle

FOX/TVDBSTUDIO

Homer takes a massive “D’oh!” after chomping down on a rock-hard donut. But ever the entrepreneur (or maybe just a donut fanatic), Homer sees a golden opportunity. He marches into a bakery with a crazy idea: donuts shaped like his head, complete with a sprinkle marking the exact spot of his misfortune. The “Doh-nut” is born!

The Narcissistic Anthem

FOX/TVDBSTUDIO

Homer’s self-absorption reaches new heights with his song, “See My Vest.” Bored one evening, Homer decides to write himself a hilarious masterpiece titled “See My Vest,” which is a ridiculously self-aggrandizing verse about Homer’s iffy qualities. From his love of donuts to his fashion choices, the song leaves no aspect of Homer’s personality unturned.

The Spider Pig Spectacular

FOX/TVDBSTUDIO

Homer decides to indulge in some strangely colored peppers, and they launch a full-blown hallucination featuring a singing pink pig with spider webs coming out of its butt, aptly named Spider Pig. The lyrics, coupled with the bizarre animation of Spider Pig cavorting around Springfield, make this an unforgettable moment in Simpsons history.
