The bible supersedes any other literature for every Christian. Christians believe that The Bible is not a collection of stories, but the holy word that contains instructions from God. This is the reason why The Bible is the most read instructional material, with different versions being translated over the years. You can now find e-versions of The Bible, thanks to the growing level of technology. However, most Christians commit sin on a daily basis without even knowing it. The Bible forbids a lot of things that modern people love to do. Did you know that eating pork is banned in The Bible? Most people commit sin out of ignorance or lack of knowledge. Read on to learn some of the normal things we do daily that The Bible strictly forbids especially if you are a Christian.

Seeking Psychics and Fortune Tellers
Before you pick that newspaper to read the horoscope or visit a psychic to know what your future holds, realize that the bible bans this. According to Leviticus 19; 31, The Bible says that you should not turn to separatists or medium. The Bible says that the Lord will set his face against that person and cut him from the rest of the people.
However, fortune tellers and psychics have become famous. Go to the fair and you’re likely to see a sign of someone wanting to read your palm or tell your fortune from cards. Magazines also have listing for premium telephone fortune lines. Studies conducted show that 15% of Americans have had their fortune told while 25% believe in astrology.

Tattooing is seen as trendy and modern. You can choose from different designs and you can include a tattoo in any part of the body. But, according to Leviticus 19:28, The Bible says that you shall not cut in your body for the gone, or print marks on you says the lord. This means that you’re not allowed even a little butterfly or flower on your ankle. This also eliminates a cross sign.

In today’s world, every woman wants to get noticed through the clothes they wear. You’ll find some with tight-fitting, revealing outfits meant to distract men. Most women love being told that they look beautiful. However, Timothy 2; 9 warns against this by advising that all women should dress modestly, with propriety and decency.

Adorning of Jewelry
You’ll notice that some churches do not condone women wearing jewelry to church or even to their wedding ceremony. But most churches, overlook this. Timothy 2; 9 says that women should adorn themselves with the right clothing, not with braided hair and pearls or gold or expensive outfits. This prohibition has never been taken seriously. In different countries around the world and for centuries women have adorned themselves with jewelry and husbands have gained popular for being able to afford money to buy jewelry.
The jewelry industry has over 170,000 employed in the US. The industry is worth $37 billion a year. Countries like Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan have women who are modestly dressed when outside the house. This point also relates to the fact that women should never go to church with their heads uncovered. Saint Paul says in Corinthians that any woman who prays with her head uncovered, dishonors her head. In the past, women were comfortable wearing hats and headbands to church. Today, it’s not uncommon to see ladies with flowing hair.

Divorced Women Re-Marrying
It’s now become the norm to find divorced women re-marrying. You’ll find some churches even encouraging this new practice. 1st Corinthians 7; 10 reads “To the married I give this charge: the wife should not separate from her husband (but if she does, she is to stay single or go back to her husband. Mark 10; 11 also states that “anyone who puts away his wife, and gets engaged to another women, commits fornication: and anyone marries her that is divorced from her husband commits adultery.”
Divorce rates in the U.S. are between 40-50% of first marriages. It is estimated that the rate rises to 73% for third marriages. Children who grew up with divorced parents are four times more likely to see their marriage fail compared to those who were raised in a stable family setup.

Trimming or Cutting Your Beard
The Nazarites wore long hair and beards. Leviticus 19; 27 states that neither shall you cut the corners of your beard. Women get a free pass as there seems to be nothing to prevent them from waxing or shaving their legs. Men are allowed to shave as long as it’s not their heads. With an estimated 75% of men shaving their face daily, it seems most men are in prohibition of what is written in Leviticus.

Eating Different Seafood
According to Leviticus 10;11, the bible states that and all things with scales and fins in the rivers, and in the seas, of all that move in water, they shall be an abomination to you; you shall not eat their flesh. The bible regards seafood as an abomination and not meant for human consumption.
Eating certain birds was also prohibited. These birds included the kite, owl, ossifrage, and the osprey, and the vulture, and the kite after his kind; every raven such as the night hawk, cuckow, hawk after his kind, and the little owl, cormorant, great owl, swan, and the pelican.

Wearing Different Fabric Blends and Polyester
While this was in the ancient context, the law at that time was tight as the priestly garments and tabernacle weavings were made of linen and wool. It was prohibited for ordinary people to dress the same way. Leviticus 19:19 states that you shall not breed together two types of cattle, nor wear a garment on you of two types of material mixed together. What does the tag on your shirt read, you probably didn’t know that you were sinning, did you? Cross-breeding farm animals is also banned. Although people believe that cross breeding leads to better suited breeds for the environment, this has been banned in The Bible. The Bible in Leviticus 19:18 states that you shall not lay your cattle gender with a diverse kind. In the U.S. the Angus Cow is a popular cross-breed created from native longhorn cows and Aberdeen Angus cows.
What’s more, there’s a belief that farming two crops together only leads to increased yields. Most farmers will plant a non GMO next to a GMO crop to prevent resistance against crop pests. Any form of cross breeding or farming was strictly forbidden.

Women Speaking in Church
According to 1 Corinthians 14:34, women should keep silent in the churches, as it’s not allowed unto them to speak. This verse is misinterpreted to mean that women shouldn’t be preachers in church. The verse meant that God doesn’t want anyone speaking during the bible study.

The Bible is strongly against eating pork and pork related food items such as bacon as they are termed as unclean. Pigs were meant for maintenance of the earth and not consumption. The dietary laws stated in Leviticus are strict and are still followed by most Jews who observe Kosher. Shellfish and pork are foods that can easily spoil if not cooked properly or eaten when fresh. However, Pork has become a delicacy in many homes with over 60,000 pig farms in the U.S.

Back in the Old Testament, Moses was speaking unto Aaron and his sons and told them to uncover their heads and end their clothes, lest they died. This act of tearing clothes was done as an act of mourning. It was an expression of greed to express honest repentance.

According to Mark 10:8, when you marry someone, you’re no longer two, but one flesh. The same verse goes on to say that whatever God has put together, let no man separate. The Bible is very clear on divorce. God hates divorce. Mark 10:11 also maintains that anyone whose separated from his wife and marries another one performs deceitfulness against her. Moreover, if a woman separates from her husband, later gets married to another man, she also commits adultery.

Letting People without Testicles in Church
The Levites with cut penises or crushed tentacles were never allowed to join the assembly of the lord. Whether you lost a ball or two to cancer or if you were castrated, the bible doesn’t address that. It only says you cannot pray in church.
Not Observing the Sabbath
According to Exodus, we should remember the sabbath day and keep it holy. The Bible allows you to work for six days, but on the seventh day, you are not to do any work. Nevertheless, Sundays are now termed as an extension to the weekend and most people see this as a day to chill out with friends or just rest and have a lazy Sunday. Sunday should be a day to go to church and pray. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. The Bible in New Testament redefined the meaning of work where Jesus said work wasn’t to be taken literally like how the Jews are so strict with the laws of Sabbath.
