20 Things You Didn’t Know About Jennifer Lawrence

Premiere Of Lionsgate's "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" - Arrivals

She stars as Katniss Everdeen in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise and she used to be America’s sweetheart.   She’s also recently been in the news because she isn’t too fund of Donald Trump.  It’s hard not to love a woman who says what’s on her mind, doesn’t conform to Hollywood’s idea of perfection and isn’t afraid to just be herself. I mean, who doesn’t love someone who trips in her gown in front of the entire world as she walks on stage to accept her Oscar?

She’s everywhere so you might think you know Jennifer Lawrence, but read on to find out 20 things about the major movie star you just didn’t know.

The First Girl

Until the day she was born in 1990, there’d been no female births on her father’s side of the family in more than 50 years. This makes Jennifer unique from the day she was born.  Although we’re not sure where the name Jennifer came from it doesn’t really matter does it?  It’s amazing acting talent and personality that makes her one of a kind.  Though it’s not surprise that actresses like her only come around every 50 years or so.

She has a Deformed Tailbone

Her Kentucky family doesn’t believe in medical care, so the starlet has a deformed tailbone thanks to being thrown from a horse as a child. She was also hit by a car when she was a year-and-a-half old and did not seek medical treatment.  It’s no wonder she knows her way around nature and how to use a bow and arrow.  Just kidding but seriously, it sounds like J Law’s childhood was a little less than easy.

She Didn’t Fit In at School…

The lovely actress didn’t like any of the things that the rest of the world loves when it comes to school. Not very high on her list of enjoyment were recess, field trips and partying.  Although it does seem in recent years that Lawrence has definitely caught up in the partying department.  That and taking awesome vacations and making sure the world knows about it through her social media accounts.  Looks like it was a long time coming.

But She was a High School Cheerleader

That’s right. The girl who disliked recess, field trips and parties was a high school cheerleader who didn’t fit in.  How in the world did this girl not fit in?  It just doesn’t add up.  Then again her career doesn’t really add up.  You can see her awkwardness in her roles.  The “one of a kind” moniker definitely holds true for her.  What would really be awesome is if Lawrence decided to play a cheerleader in a movie.

She Was a Model

When she was 14, Jennifer Lawrence was “discovered” by a modeling agent while on spring break. She moved to New York to start her career shortly afterward.  And the rest as they say is “history.”  Although Lawrence definitely paid her dues like anyone else.  She had roles in movies but never reached the mega success level of her career until Hunger Games came into the pictures.  The Oscars would follow and now we have to see if she can hold up.

My Super Sweet 16

Remember the show were teens had parties that cost more than most people’s wedding, house and college education all rolled into one? Well, J.Law’s early acting skills started her off in promos for the show. You might recognize her from the commercials.  If not don’t worry about it.  She rarely mentions it and only the die hard fans are the ones who actually do the internet searches.  Still though, we think it’s kind of funny.

Can You Hear Her Now?

Another of the star’s early roles was alongside the “Can you Hear Me Now?” guy in a Verizon commercial. She thought he was a huge celebrity and claimed she was completely in awe of working with him.  We wonder what the Verizon guy now thinks of seeing her.  Would it be possible to get these two together to do another set of Verizon commercials.  We think that the world deserves more “Can you hear me now” with big time celebrities.

She was too pretty for a part

She was nominated for an Oscar for her role in a movie called Winter’s Bone, from which she was originally denied the part. The producers of the movie didn’t want her to have the role because they deemed her too pretty.  How many times do you hear about women not getting roles in Hollywood because they are too pretty?  Sure seems rare to me.  But then again, Lawrence is quite stunning.

PETA was a little angry at Winter’s Bone

In her role in Winter’s Bone there is a scene in which she does damage to a squirrel.   Though we seriously doubt you heard about it because well, it was a squirrel and squirrel torture doesn’t really make the news when PETA is causing a stir.  Still though, Lawrence herself is an animal lover and we can’t see in any way her being happy about having to be in that scene.  Thought that probably didn’t make PETA feel better at the time.

She Lost Roles to Whom?!

Despite the fact that the world loves Twilight, talk of Kristen Stewart’s bad acting never fails to entertain. So it might really surprise you to learn that J.Law actually auditioned for and didn’t get the part of Bella Swan in the blockbuster movies. She also failed to get the lead female roles in Superbad and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo before she became Katniss Everdeen.  Something tells me that now she doesn’t exactly regret losing these roles.

She crashed a car because she didn’t see Honey Boo Boo

A few years ago J.Law had to apologize for rear-ending a family’s vehicle in traffic because she was so distracted driving on the road. What had her so distracted? It wasn’t texting or taking a selfie. She thought she saw Honey Boo Boo on the sidewalk.  It got her so excited and surprised that she lost control for a few seconds thus causing the “accident.”  Aren’t we all victims of Honey Boo Boo at some point in our lives?

She always hates her long hair

Remember that time she cut her long, gorgeous hair into a pixie and the world went crazy?  They started calling her Kate Gosselin (I mean, come on people) and hating her for her cut. But, the actress liked it because she hated her long hair even more. She figured nothing would make it worse than it already was.  It’s understandable.  That long hair gets in the way all the time and it’s tough to act when you’re preoccupied by it.

She’s a Music Video Star

Parachute made a song called The Mess I Made and Jennifer Lawrence is actually featured in the music video for the song.  Lawrence herself is a music lover so seeing her in a music video was a natural fit for her.  Then again, it seems that Parachute might be a little random in terms of a video she’d be in.   You’d think she’d get some kind of Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen part.  Eh, whatever.

Her Net Worth is $60 million

And it seems as though that net worth is going to continue to rise with every movie role she lands.   Lawrence is one of the few actresses out there who made it public that the discrepancy in pay between actresses and actors is a huge problem in Hollywood.  Therefore we might see her getting more money for the roles she gets.  Then again, Allison Brie just might be the new it girl so Lawrence might have to wait.

She still gets star struck

While Lawrence is one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, she still gets star struck when meeting movie legends.  Everyone remembers the first time Lawrence graced the red carpet at the Oscars and was in awe at virtually every celebrity.  Must have been amazing when she had the opportunity to work with Robert De Niro.  Lawrence has always appreciated fine actors and when she meets a very famous one for the first time, she’s a fan like anyone else.

Apartment Deposit

After filming X-Men: First Class in London, JLaw had to fight to get the security deposit for her Notting Hill apartment back because she had stained the bathtub blue from her makeup as the character Mystique.  Apparently being a mega star and mutant doesn’t exempt you from mucking up the bathroom in movie make up.  While she did get the deposit back (does she even need it?) it was apparently a pain.

No Katniss?

Lawrence spent three days deciding whether to take the role of Katniss in The Hunger Games series. She originally was going to say no before her mom talked her into it.  It’s a good thing that mommy knew best in this case.   It’s only one of the most successful movie franchises of all-time and responsible for Lawrence’s world wide success.   Nice job mom!

She went deaf

While filming the second Hunger Games, she went deaf in one ear for an entire week.  There isn’t much said about her experience going deaf but we can only imagine it helped the actress in her ability that much further.  As far the reason she went deaf?  There’s plenty of loud explosions and stuff in the Hunger Games.  You gotta be careful during filming on set.

Katniss Before She was Katniss

JLaw’s high school rival once asked her to hand out invitations to a party she wasn’t even invited to. She responded by taking the invitations, whistling while she walked away, and then threw them out in the trash.  We wonder what her “rival” is up to these days.  We’d guess still throwing parties and trying to get Lawrence to go to every single one of them.

Her fall count is approaching double digits

Everyone knows how famous Jennifer Lawrence is for falling down on red carpets.  But she does it with such style and humor doesn’t she?  Lawrence is closing in on 10 public falls with her yet again slip last week at Cannes Film Festival.  We’re starting to wonder if she’s falling on purpose at this point.  Sure it’s still funny but come on.  Someone teach this girl to walk in heels!
