In many cases, churches are some of the more ornate buildings we’ve ever seen. For centuries, designers have been creating master piece out of churches, and they usually don’t skimp on a single detail. However, Tainan Tung-Men Holiness Church in Taiwan is proof that churches can also be incredibly simple. Built in, 2015, this church was designed by Mayu Architects. Since the church is surrounding primarily by residential structures, designers wanted to be sure that it was able to blend in. According to the project’s description, “Responding to this contextual city fabric as well as the pastor’s vision, the lower floors of the church are used as socializing spaces such as coffee shop and family-friendly book store, inviting the community in and knitting the church closely with the life of the neighborhood.” As a result, the church is beautiful both inside and out, and offers plenty of space for members of both the congretation and community to enjoy.
