Million Dollar Listing NY: Season Premiere Goes Deeper Than Real Estate

Since debuting in 2012, Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing New York has become one of the most popular real estate shows on TV. The show follows three real estate agents, Fredrik Edlund, Ryan Serhant, and Luis Ortiz, as they attempt to help homeowners sell their homes. Now, entering its fifth season, the recent premiere dug a little deeper than real estate. One of the show’s most popular agents, Fredrik Eklund opened up about the tragic loss he and his partner faced just a few months ago. The couple, who was expecting their first child, was crushed when their surrogate miscarried.

Although Eklund described being “broken” after the incident, he decided to film the season anyway. According to Eklumd, “I struggle with it a lot this season, and I’m still broken. It’s better — it’s actually a lot better, because the brokenness kind of tapped into an unknown emotional cord or connected to a sensitive, deeper place within me that I didn’t even knew I had…and that is a good thing.” However, as you can probably imagine, Edlund’s work has provided him with a way to escape the pain, and he and the rest of the cast of Million Dollar Listing NY is back to business as usual as they try to negotiate deals and make sales. The 90 minute fifth season premiere showed beautiful apartments in the city, and although most of the properties are out of the average viewer’s price range, it’s always nice to see what’s out there.

Aside from the usual, this season also promises to take a closer look into the cast member’s personal lives, and there will certainly be some drama as the man fight for clients and respect. With the season already off to a great start, it’ll be interesting to see what’s to come.
