Here’s One Way To Maximize Loft Space in San Francisco

Loft Space 1

With each passing day, residents of San Francisco are feeling the effects of skyrocketing rent prices.  The cost per square foot is so high that some people are paying thousands of dollars for spaces the size of walk in closets.   To combat this issue, designers at ICOSA, in collaboration with Peter Suen, created a unit called the Domino Loft.  This incredibly “simple” multi-functional volume was built in a condominium in the city’s Financial District.

Amazingly, in this tiny space you’ll find a bedroom, guest bed, closet, dining room, and even a work area.  The loft was designed offsite using concrete panels, wood slabs, metalwork and custom cabinetry.  The unit was then reassembled inside of the home.

Where can one possibly fit all of this?  As you’ll see from the pictures below, a dry erase white board pulls out into a bed.  Underneath is a storage closet for hats and shoes.  And the ladder that you see can slide horizontally.
