For may people, one of the best things about living in a city is being able to use public transportation. After all, most cities are crowded, and getting around by car isn’t always quick or easy. Well Syracuse might not be the largest or most popular city, but its public transportation system is actually pretty decent. The Amtrak runs through the city which makes getting around without a car pretty convenient. The city also uses the Central New York Regional Transportation Authority which earned the “Outstanding Public Transportation System Achievement Award” in 2006.

Okay, so there isn’t much to do in Syracuse, but the Great New York State Fair might just make up for it. First taking place in 1841, this legendary fair has become a local staple in Syracuse. Each year, thousands of people flock to the event to enjoy rides, shows, and vendors. The fair lasts for 12 days each year, and is the oldest state fair in the United States.
