We are basing our report on the ten most dangerous neighborhoods in San Francisco by the number of reported crimes in the area. 1. Mission Neighborhood

The crime rate in Mission is high enough to warrant concern. There is a one in twenty six chance that you will become the victim of a crime when in this area. The rate for crime in this neighborhood of San Francisco is thirty six percent above the national average. There are approximately 10.68 crimes committed on a daily basis for every one hundred thousand within the neighborhood. The total number of violent crimes for Mission has been estimated at four hundred and thirty eight per one hundred thousand people and property crimes are assessed at three thousand four hundred and fifty nine per hundred thousand in population.

2. The Tenderloin Neighborhood

The Tenderloin has been marked by an area in San Francisco that has a high rate of crime. Incidents of suspicious activity and vehicle theft take place teh most frequently in this area. The statistics show that The Tenderloin has a more concentrated number of serious and violent crimes including drug violations, robberies, assaults and warrants. Any person in this neighborhood statistically has a one in fourteen chance of becoming the victim of a crime. Eight hundred and thirty violent crimes occur per hundred thousand and six thousand five hundred and fifty nine involving property crimes per hundred thousand annually.

4. South of Market Neighborhood

The South of Market area is reported to have a crime rate that is higher than the national average by sixty seven percent. Just over thirteen crimes are committed daily per hundred thousand in population. In this area, the chances of becoming a crime victim are one in twenty one. Five hundred and thirty six violent crimes occur per hundred thousand in population with four thousand two hundred and thirty four property crimes.
